一名男子因猎枪走火而身亡，几乎所有的人都认为这是一起意外，只有一向风格强硬的检事霞夕子（泽口靖子 饰）倍感蹊跷。她执意深入调查，但是最终一无所获。与此同时，名叫安川初音（石野洋子 饰）的女子来到夕子老家的寺院上香，她此行的目的是悼念一个因被误解而意外死亡的男子。安川种种反常举动引起了夕子的注意，她旋即又对安川展开调查，却无意间发现这两起意外事件的关联。层层迷雾渐渐散尽，真相逐渐浮出水面…… 本片根据夏树静子的原著小说《路上の奇禍》改编，是3週連続　罪と女系列的第2部，另外两部分别为《破婚的条件》和《魔术的耳语》。。A clever fortune-hunter with a penchant for murder does in his elderly, supposedly rich, wife and manages to get away with it.
